Biogas & Biomethane sector
Specialised components for biogas production and biomethane upgrading: from anaerobic digestion to grid injection. A strategic sector boosted by PNRR funding.
A rapidly growing sector
Biogas and biomethane represent one of Italy's most strategic renewable energy pathways. PNRR funding (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) has allocated significant resources for new plants and conversions, driving growing demand for specialised components.
Roffia supports designers, installers and plant operators with a complete range of valves, pipes, fittings and accessories suited to biogas-specific challenges: H₂S corrosion, low-pressure gas sealing and ATEX compliance.
Gate valves for digestate
Rubber-seated ductile iron gate valves for isolating digestate lines. H₂S-resistant elastomers. DN 50-600.
PE pipes and fittings
PE 100 and PE 80 pipes for biogas and digestate transport, with complete PE fittings: elbows, tees, reducers, couplers and compression fittings. Butt fusion and electrofusion joints for gas-tight sealing. PE is ideal for biogas plants as it is immune to H₂S corrosion, lightweight and flexible. Available in SDR 11, SDR 17 and SDR 17.6, compliant with EN 12007 and EN 1555 for combustible gases.
ATEX ball valves
Fire-safe, antistatic ball valves in stainless or carbon steel. PTFE-filled or PEEK seats for H₂S resistance. ATEX-certified actuators for classified zones.
Heat exchangers
Plate and shell-and-tube exchangers for digester heating (mesophilic/thermophilic) and CHP thermal recovery. 316L stainless for digestate resistance.
Safety valves
Over/under-pressure protection for digesters and gasholders. PED-certified relief valves.
Pumps for digestate
Submersible and centrifugal pumps for digestate handling, substrate feeding and storage tank drainage.
Knife gate valves
Knife gate valves for isolating digestate, sludge and fibrous substrates at digester inlets. The through-going blade design cuts fibrous solids, preventing blockages. Cast iron or stainless steel body, bidirectional elastomer seal. Manual, pneumatic or electric actuation. DN 50 to DN 600, ideal for high dry-solids content fluids.
PNRR opportunities
Italy's PNRR has allocated significant funding for biomethane production from agricultural waste and OFMSW (Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste). New dedicated plants and biogas-to-biomethane conversions are generating strong demand for certified components. Roffia is ready to support this growth with stocked inventory and qualified technical assistance.
