Water Treatment sector
Specialised components for wastewater treatment, drinking water purification, desalination and industrial effluent plants. Corrosion-resistant valves, pumps and fittings for every stage of the water cycle.
A strategic sector for environment and industry
Water treatment is essential both for environmental protection and industrial processes. From municipal wastewater treatment plants managed by water utilities, to industrial effluent treatment systems in manufacturing facilities, to drinking water purification and desalination: every application requires reliable, corrosion-resistant components.
Roffia supports water utilities, contractors and machine builders with a complete range of valves, pumps, fittings and accessories specifically designed for the water sector.
Water treatment challenges
Water treatment plants operate with aggressive fluids (chlorine, acids, bases), suspended solids (sludge, sand), and variable operating conditions. Components must ensure corrosion resistance, sealing on solids-laden fluids and long service life with minimal maintenance. Selecting the right materials — stainless steel, coated iron, plastics — is fundamental for plant reliability.
Products for water treatment
Gate valves
Gate valves with rubber-seated wedge for raw water, sludge and sewage isolation. GGG50 ductile iron body with epoxy coating compliant with EN 14901. Available with handwheel, gearbox or motorised. DN 50 - DN 600.
Butterfly valves
Butterfly valves wafer and lug type for flow regulation and isolation. Disc in nickel-plated iron, stainless steel or PTFE-coated. WAFER or LUG body with ISO/DIN/ANSI drilling. EPDM, NBR or PTFE seat. Suitable for water, sludge and process air.
Diaphragm valves
Diaphragm valves for solids-laden fluids and sludge. The flexible diaphragm completely isolates the mechanism from the fluid, preventing blockages. Body in lined cast iron or plastic (PVC, PP, PVDF). Ideal for chemical dosing and sludge lines.
Plastic valves for chemical dosing
Ball valves and diaphragm valves in PVC-U, PP and PVDF for chemical dosing lines: hypochlorite, ferric chloride, sulphuric acid, caustic soda, polyelectrolyte. Brands: FIP, Effebi.
Submersible and centrifugal pumps
Submersible pumps for sewage lifting and tank emptying, centrifugal pumps for recirculation and transfer. Brands: KSB, Ebara. Open or channel impellers for solids-laden fluids.
Check valves
Check valves — swing, disc, ball and dual-plate types — for pump protection and backflow prevention. Essential in pumping stations to prevent water hammer and backflow when pumps stop.
Fittings and flanges
Fittings in stainless steel, cast iron and plastic. EN 1092-1 flanges in coated iron and stainless steel for flanged connections. EPDM and PTFE gaskets for aggressive fluid sealing.
Instrumentation
Pressure gauges, pressure switches, thermometers and level indicators for plant parameter monitoring. Stainless steel versions and with diaphragm seals for aggressive fluids.
Applications in the water cycle
Drinking water
Filtration, disinfection, chlorination. Plastic and stainless steel valves certified for potable water.
Municipal wastewater
Screening, sedimentation, biological treatment, disinfection. Valves for sludge and sewage.
